A vegetarian is a vampire who does not drink human blood. Instead, they drink the blood of animals. The word vegetarian was coined by the Cullen family so that they could refer to their unnatural diet in a civilized fashion. Being a vegetarian is very uncommon and many vampires consider the concept crazy. However, being a vegetarian allows vampires to live among humans without detection; however, this can only be accomplished in regions with ample animal populations. In some cases, such vampires can live not as a coven but as a family as their needs are not always driven to kill. Vegetarians also have gold eyes instead of red.
