Uploading imagesEdit
Hi there! Please do not upload "new versions" of images already on the wiki, unless they are the same (or very similar) to the originals. One of the cake images that you uploaded for your blog overwrote an Eclipse poster that was on the Eclipse movie posters page; when you replaced it, your cake image was therefore appearing in that poster gallery. I agree with you about Benjamin and especially the Denali but have you seen the casting for Vladimir and Stefan,i forgot their names but they are just perfect! Zafrina's casting person could have been a little bit better but overall the whole cast is great aside from renesmee as Mackenzie Foy i mean she has the skin,lips and hair for the part but she can't be perfect i get it BUT what about the CGI? how will that work?

Well I'm sorry you're disappointed, but this is for the best. I don't think you need to worry about one rule turning us into a "strict wiki". The issue is that at the rate images are being added to some of the galleries, it's not hard to imagine some of them having thousands of pictures in the near future. Without a limit this is absolutely possible, since new pictures are taken of the Twilight actors every day. Where will it end? After a certain point, it's just pointless and excessive to have so many images in one gallery. I doubt many users come to the wiki to scroll through hundreds and hundreds of pictures of one person (and if they do, there are probably better sites for that).
Another problem with the galleries getting so large is related to your question of deciding which images to "cut": every time I have gone through one of the longer galleries, there have been tons of duplicates. And in addition to the duplicates, there are always a huge number of pictures where the actor (or character) looks almost exactly the same, but their head has turned a fraction of an inch or something. It becomes very hard to keep track of repeated or very similar images when the galleries are so long (and it takes forever to go hunting for them), and this makes it impossible to actually find any particular image in a gallery. Having two (or more) galleries for one actor doesn't solve this problem, and would just make everything even more convoluted. Not having a limit has supported people just uploading tons and tons of images to the wiki without even knowing if those pictures are already here, since it has become impossible to search for specific images. If things were a bit more organized, it might actually be possible for people to know which pictures we have and to use the galleries (or image categories) to find certain ones.
The idea of an image-limit was actually brought up months ago, but I've put off it off because I knew some people wouldn't be happy. You may have noticed that a number of the larger galleries have been protected in the last few months, to keep them from getting even longer. Unfortunately things are getting out of hand with images on the wiki and it's time to get a bit of control over the situation. I don't think it's unreasonable, since 200 pictures is still quite a lot—probably more than you think. I tried to choose a limit that would still allow for a lot of images without letting the galleries get overwhelming, and I think 200 is a fair number. -TagAlongPam (talk) 21:34, April 27, 2011 (UTC)
- Slideshows are pretty and all, so they are nice for things like the front page or special events (and I know people like using them on their user pages). But as for use in the galleries, they would just make it more difficult for people to view the images. Lucky, here. I decided to answer this since I can relate and TAP hasn't answered yet. That badge for consecutive days is a little tricky and I learned how it is exactly classified a while ago. And I really wanted the one for 365 days straight, lol. Being on the site doesn't necessarily mean you get a day counted towards the badge, but I think you got that part figured out.
Simply commenting on a blog page lets you get a day counted towards it -- but at which times it counts as a day is odd. The Wiki time doesn't follow normal time. What I mean by that is since it is currently 9:35 PM Eastern at my time, it is 1:35 AM on Wiki time. So essentially a new day starts on here at 8 PM Eastern time.
Looking at your contributions, I can see you made a comment on a blog yesterday at 4:28 PM Eastern. And subsequently didn't make another edit until you uploaded an image today at 8:22 Eastern. So yesterday by making an edit before 8 PM Wiki time you essentially made an edit still on June 8th. Does this make since?

Guess what? Today I just watched Harry Potter Pt.1 of Deathly Hallows! I can't wait to see the last part, but at the same time, I'm sad. I started getting into it when I was in first grade. I also feel even more sad when I think about the last Twilight Saga movie. But there will be the Hunger Games, too. And I totally get what you mean about those characters. Its like Twilight, except in the end, she picks Peeta (the right choice). Have you seen the cast? I thought thta the guy who plays Gale should have been Finnick (but without the retarded facial hair). About the whole dying business; though I might be upset by the deaths of some characters, it would make it more interesting.As in HP and HG, a lot of beloved people were killed, and that made me feel for the characters more. I was stunned at the deaths of Prim, Finnick, Coin, Rue, Fred, Tonks, Lupin, Dumbledore, Snape, and many others. But I love to talk to you, since we have so many similar interests!

- If I may add my half a cent worth, I did not really like the show - so little so that I presented a friend with the first series DVDs way before finishing to watch them. You realize that a lot of first quality work has been poured in the show, there's a number of good actors, the plots are tight, Anna Paquin in the nude is certainly an added attraction (I'm a heterosexual male, even though it's the politically incorrect thing to be), but the treatment was too soap-operaish for my tastes, and, as you say, you kind of fail if you rely too heavily on nudity and sexuality to keep your show going. 79.12.128.200 16:06, June 28, 2011 (UTC)

- Truth to tell, I'm not that fond of the (relatively) recent spate of books/movies exploring the possibility of vampires, werewolves, and monsters living alongside human beings. Monsters, by definitions, are an indication of our own fears, and if you want to write/film some fiction about them, you should treat them as such, not as a psychiatrist's dream come true.
- May I take the liberty of a suggestion, which you are of course absolutely free to reject? Being, as I said, politically incorrectly male, I enjoyed a lot the Dresden Files by Jim Butcher - start with "Side Jobs", which is a story collection, and the first book is "Storm Front". - Oddball? No, I wouldn't say you are - when it comes to nudity and sexual content in mainstream shows, I've discovered that allowing free rein to the viewer's imagination works much better than paying explicit attention to detail, and perhaps True Blood is too explicit.
- As for "neurotic" monsters, it's probably the other way around: the latecomer is SMeyer. The first book dealing with them I'm aware of is Anne Rice's "Interview with the Vampire" published in 1976 (didn't know it was that old myself). Charlane Harris started publishing about Sookie Stackhouse in 2001, and Meyer got Twilight published in 2005.
- I haven't read Vampire Diaries, but I understand it's relatively understated and tame. When you are ready to tackle Dresden Files, I strongly recommend you go for "Side Jobs". Think of it as an immunization shot; contrary to Twilight, which essentially revolves around a teen love triangle, the Dresden books include strong elements of hardboiled crime, horror, and gore (very little nudity, strangely enough, and all of it necessary), which add up to making it strong medicine. I could finish "Storm Front" only on my second try, and I'm an adult. But then I devoured the whole series (10/12 novels in 3 weeks, no less). it's no big deal, but allow me to suggest you to put a title to your posts on talk pages (just fill the edit summary at the top on the right) and sign them at the end (just click on the signature button, the rightmost one on the second row) - it helps to keep an orderly page, particularly when it starts to fill up. - It does happen. Sure it did not happen somebody accessed your account without you knowing it? There have been edits in the past for which the only apparently valid explanation (or anyway given) was that an account was accessed illegitimately, and this might be the case; the grammar of the post is good, but the spelling and the formatting is not really consistent with other examples of your writing.
- And, yep, Green Fairy is this wiki's signature artist. Seems to be doing a pretty good job, most cases.

Profile page is fixed now. It's nothing you did to cause that. Every now and then there's a glitch in the Wiki and no matter the size of the edit you make, it will do that thing with the crazy lettering. when removing pictures from a page, try to remove also the line breaks that goes with them (if they're there, of course). It makes for a cleaner page and it prevents from another editor from having to do it for you.

- It was not my intention to appear mean - just to point out a fairly minor detail. My apologies: english is a foreign language to me, and I don't always have a feel for how my writing is perceived by the other party.
- In a text editor, a line break is what you get by hitting "Enter" and the cursor jumps from a line to the next - it divides two paragraphs. Masami Kosaka's picture (whose removal I approve) was in a paragraph of itself, and not removing the break after it left too big a space between the text before and after it. I'm not singling you out - I undo whatever edits I think are deserving of being undone. It just happens that you notice yours and not those of others', partly because yours come in batches oftener than other people's. My edit history is public, like everybody else's - please check.
"Books" is a higher category than "Published" and "Unpublished", so that category is already present in the tree, for example. And your last batch of categories contained all exactly _one_ gallery, and there was no compelling reason to have one-member categories. One-member categories don't belong here. And believe me, I've worked extensively enough on categories to know what I'm saying. (Categories with more than an entry stayed; Kristen Stewart has three or four; Taylor Lautner two or three, Robert Pattinson, well, you get the idea.)
And no, I'm not doing it for spite - sometimes a revert is obvious (unpublished books), sometimes (one-member categories) I don't feel in the mood of explaining, which, as you imply, is impolite. I'll see that I correct this behavior - though, perhaps, the line between explanation and nag is blurred; that english is a foreign language for me is a complicating factor.
Whether it's _rightful_ for me (and rightful for _me_) to revert your (or anybody's) edits - well, I've been editing on this wiki for about two years, both registered and unregistered. I've put enough work on this period to have gained some knowledge of it - if I think that a new edit fits the structure, it stays; if not, it goes. The author's identity is irrelevant. My not being an admin is also irrelevant - I don't need a badge and a title to do what is essentially the same job, and the double-check inherent in this deal has proven more than once precious.

- I've been lucky I joined the wiki when it needed quite a bit of work (well, a lot; you should have seen the sorry excuse for a language that was used then). So I had ample opportunity to help. Now, well, there's little left to do, and that little almost purely cosmetic - and when BD2 is out, even that little will dry up.

- Couple of details, which I couldn't tell you before the "deed". 1) Unless it's a proper name ("Seth Clearwater") or a title ("Breaking Dawn"), only the first letter is capitalized - "Graphic novels". 2) It's not enough to add a tag to an article: the actual category has to be created. - It's actually a bit (not *that* much!) more complex than that. What you do in adding a category to a page is to create a link to another page (or file, or whatever its name is), but you don't create the other page. Most often than not it already exists, sometimes it does not; and in this case you have to create it - you follow the link, and you edit what the wiki offers you (a short sentence about the purpose of the category will do), and, most importantly, save it. Only _then_ you have the new category.
- When you talk to your mother, tell her you've also spelled "catorgory" instead of "category"! :-P
