Casts of 'Glee' and 'Vampire Diaries' (and hopefully some surprise guests) will also be on hand in San Diego.

San Diego Comic-Con is not just an event for comic book geeks. Sure, it might have started that way back in 1970 when it was founded by a bunch of like-minded San Diegans and dubbed the "Golden State Comic Book Convention," but the annual fan-centric fete has become a veritable who's who of Hollywood, especially for stars and their upcoming films and TV shows seeking early support from eager and enthusiastic fans.

The 2012 convention is certainly no exception, with four days of programming that will feature appearances from some of the biggest names in the biz.

Here's our breakdown of which big stars you can expect to see and when:

The Young and the Restless

Comic-Con kicks off Thursday with perhaps the most youth-friendly event of the entire week: The "Breaking Dawn - Part 2" panel, at which the majority of the film's beloved stars will appear, including Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner, as well as Mackenzie Foy, Elizabeth Reaser, Peter Facinelli, Kellan Lutz, Ashley Greene, Nikki Reed and Jackson Rathbone.

Other programming that caters to the younger demographic is the appearance of "Glee" stars Lea Michele, Cory Monteith, Naya Rivera, Darren Criss, Kevin McHale and Jenna Ushkowitz as well as "Vampire Diaries" stars Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley, Ian Somerhalder, Michael Trevino and Zach Roerig.

Hollywood Veterans

Most of the following fellows need no introduction due to their legendary and/or cult status among the dedicated masses. The action-movie fans will get their fix via the "Expendables 2" panel, which will feature action icons Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger, along with castmates Dolph Lundgren, Terry Crews and Randy Couture.

Matt Damon and Jodie Foster will make an appearance in support of "Elysium," Quentin Tarantino will bring his patented and potent geek-friendly energy to his "Django Unchained" panel, WB's presentation of "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" will bring celebrated thespian and geek god Sir Ian McKellan to San Diego and, speaking of geek gods, we can't forget to include OG geek heroes Joss Whedon and Nathan Fillion, who will surely cause mind-melting fan-demonium during the "Firefly" 10th-anniversary panel.

Speculated Surprise Guests

Much of the fun of Comic-Con is trying to guess which studios will pull off the biggest surprises, à la the first official assembly of "The Avengers" cast in 2010. This year we have very high hopes that Christopher Nolan will make his first appearance at the Con either in support of WB's "Man of Steel," on which he serves as executive producer, or as part of "Dark Knight Rises."

This is the first time Comic-Con falls on a weekend ahead of the release of one of Nolan's Batman films, so we hope the timing is perfect for something extra-special. Disney announced an "Iron Man 3" panel, which has our curiosity piqued for which cast members will be on hand in support of the film and whether any of Iron Man's fellow Avengers (we're looking at you, Thor and Captain America) may or may not appear alongside their comrade to promote or announce developments with their individual films.

Finally, we'd like Lionsgate and Summit to take the opportunity to make some exciting announcements about "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" in front of their very captive audiences. The casting rumors have been heating up for that film and we've only had one official confirmation so far, so as far as we're concerned, Comic-Con would be the place to cause a casting stir.

5. Taylor effusively complimenting KStew. “Kristen has done such a good job over this whole franchise.” At this point, Kristen hid under the table and the audience laughed. Confused, Rob looked around and then said to Taylor, “I thought they were laughing at you!”

6. Taylor continued: ”She’s all of a sudden transformed herself into this sleek sexy vampire and it’s a completely different person. I was really impressed with her.”

NEWS/Twilight: Kristen Stewart Talks Final Film

Kristen Stewart knows all about transformation.

In the past four years, Kristen the actress has transformed from girl to woman and Kristen's Twilight character, Bella, has transformed from human to vampire. (Both in the public eye, may we add.)

However, the 22-year-old remains unfazed. In fact, she told E! News in an exclusive interview Thursday, "The cool thing about my job is sharing something that I love—it's the coolest, most unique, crazy, shared experience."

The vixen vampire and the cast of Breaking Dawn Part 2, including on- and offscreen lover Rob Pattinson, heartthrob Taylor Lautner and the brains behind the beast, Stephenie Meyer, unleashed brand-new footage of the final installment of The Twilight Saga.

"They're gonna flip about what we show them today," she said with that coy, signature smirk of hers.

Kristen Stewart Wears a Crop Top to Comic-Con, Giggles with Robert Pattinson

Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson descended upon Comic-Con in San Diego today, bringing wild crowds of Twi-Hards to the area. And, we have to admit, the stars are looking hot!

Stewart showed up at the event with a neon mini skirt and sexy white crop top, with her hair down and wavy. She finished off the look with black sneakers, which was kind of an odd choice but at least it was a practical one.

Pattinson wore his hair messy and face scruffy, as usual, and a collared shirt and slacks. He never deviates much from his simple wardrobe, expect for the baseball hat and jacket thing he's so fond of when he travels.

The two sat in on a Twilight panel and joked about extending the fanchise. Robert Pattinson couldn't help imagining a completely rebooted Twilight Saga. "What do you think about…" he quipped to Meyer. "…Edward and Bella get divorced and it's kind of a Mr. and Mrs. Smith thing?"

They proceeded to giggle next to each other during the panel. Looks like the stars are having a blast in sunny San Diego!

Comic-Con Report: Kristen Stewart Says 'I'm Down' for More 'Twilight'

Reporting from San Diego — Even Kristen Stewart doesn't want the Twilight Saga to end!

The actress wasn't shy about showing her love for the film phenomenon that turned her into a mega-star during the Breaking Dawn Part 2 press conference at San Diego Comic-Con. When Twilight author Stephenie Meyer was asked by journalists whether she had ever thought about continuing the series, Stewart piped in, "Steph, I'm down!"

Ever the jokester, co-star Robert Pattinson couldn't help imagining a completely rebooted Twilight Saga. "What do you think about…" he quipped to Meyer. "…Edward and Bella get divorced and it's kind of a Mr. and Mrs. Smith thing?"

"I'd rip your head off," Stewart teased, alluding to the intense strength that her character gains when she becomes a vampire in Breaking Dawn Part 2.

And just how excited was Kristen to finally become a vampire after spending four films playing a plain old human? "I [felt like I was] a sports car," she said, referencing vampire Bella. "Let's break it in!"

The 22-year-old actress grew more contemplative, though, when asked what the end of the Twilight Saga meant to her and to the rest of the cast after all these years. "I put everything I have into it — and I can say the same thing for these guys," she said sincerely. "It's something that I'll always have."

SDCC 2012: First 7 Minutes Of ‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2′ Shown

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 will bring The Twilight Saga film franchise to a close and its cast and crew were on hand today in Hall H at the San Diego Comic-Con to present the first seven minutes from this highly anticipated final installment.

Director Bill Condon couldn't be on the panel because he's currently scoring the film in London, but to treat the fans for what will be the film franchise's final appearance at Comic-Con, he introduced the first 7 minutes of the film, beginning right where Breaking Dawn: Part 1 left off with Bella (Kristen Stewart) opening her eyes. Also, a short clip from the film was shown. You can read all of footage description here below. [...]

Comic-Con Report: The 10 Best Moments of the 'Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2' Panel

Reporting from San Diego — For the last five years, the Twilight saga has been one of Comic-Con's biggest draws. Fans line up days in advance just to get a seat to watch Taylor, Robert, Kristen, and company talk about what filming was like, their behind-the-scenes antics, and what's in store for the future of the franchise.

This year, however, is bittersweet as Breaking Dawn: Part 2 will close the book on Twilight's cinematic run. To celebrate their final Comic-Con panel, the cast and studio provided plenty of surprises and memorable moments. So if you're a TwiHard who wasn't able to camp out on the streets of San Diego, fear not. We've rounded up the best the Breaking Dawn panel had to offer.

10. Renesmee Makes Her First Appearance

Breaking Dawn: Part 2 is hotly anticipated for many reasons, but one of the biggest is the first appearance of Edward and Bella's daughter, Renesmee. The crowd was thrilled to see little Mackenzie Foy make her Comic-Con debut. While the rest of the cast can't help but be a little jaded from the years of Twilight promotion, the 11-year-old Foy looked like a kid on Christmas morning, just radiating excitement with an ear-to-ear smile.

9. Taylor Lautner Covers Nikki Reed in Food

As the cast reminisced about scenes that didn't quite make it into the films, Taylor Lautner told the story of when he was asked to throw a bowl of food at Nikki Reed. According to Reed's recollection, it took tens of takes of her getting covered in food before Taylor threw the bowl in the right place. All Taylor could talk about was how he kept hitting the cameraman in the crotch.

8. Kellan Lutz Makes Things Awkward

When asked what his favorite moment was in filming the Twlight Saga, Kellan Lutz jokingly wrapped his arm around Nikki Reed and said, "Kissing my wife." To which Nikki shrugged him off and made sure to mention her husband was there in the audience. Lutz recovered with, "Love you, Paul," as he quickly pulled his arm away from Reed like a man who had just been caught doing something he shouldn't have been doing.

7. Stephenie Meyer Tries to Get Robert Pattinson to Write an Edward Cullen Book

One audience member asked author Stephenie Meyer if she had any plans to finish the rumored project of a follow-up novel told exclusively through the perspective of Edward Cullen. While Meyer said she was in need of a break from the vampire business, she did try and convince Robert Pattinson to take the lead on the project, a suggestion the audience was very much in favor of.

6. RPatz and KStew Reveal Their Secret Comic-Con Costumes

Ever wonder what Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart would dress up as if they went to Comic-Con for pleasure instead of business? They gave their answers this year: Rob chose General Zod from the Superman comics, and Kristen stepped into her Snow White co-star and friend Charlize Theron's territory when she playfully picked the Evil Queen.

5. Mackenzie's Aww Moment

The cuteness factor went through the roof when Mackenzie Foy talked about her favorite memory from filming. "Riding a Jacob wolf," she recollected. "I lost a tooth. Now, I have big girl teeth. Thanks, Taylor."

4. The Cast Tears Up (Kind Of)

The fact that this was the cast's final Comic-Con panel really drove home a sense of finality to their five year project. Nikki Reed held back tears for real, while Kristen Stewart fooled the audience as she turned away from the mic, wiped her eyes, and said in a whimper, "Oh god, I'm going to cry." The would-be sentimental moment was cut short when she quickly snapped out of it with a "Kidding, no I'm not."

3. Kristen Stewart Calls Out Cell Phone Guy

People still don't quite know proper audience etiquette. In the middle of the panel, one gentleman decided to take a call, but KStew wasn't having it. She paused in the middle of an answer to call out the rude behavior. With a WTF-are-you-doing look, she shouted, "Hey, come on man!"

2. Rob Draws a Big Laugh

One of the best questions of the day came from a middle-aged woman in the audience who asked Robert Pattinson what advice his character in Breaking Dawn would give his character in the first Twilight. Without hesitation, Rob replied, "Keep it in your pants." While the audience erupted in laughter, Rob sheepishly whispered, "Why do I always forget I'm talking in front of people."

1. Kristen Stewart Climbs a Mountain and Chows Down on a Mountain Lion

The biggest surprise of the Breaking Dawn: Part 2 panel came early when a recorded message from director Bill Condon told the audience they'd be treated to the first seven minutes of the film. Those first minutes open right where Part 1 left off — a red-eyed Bella now transformed into a vampire. First thing on Bella's agenda? The hunt. Cut to speeding through the forest, scaling a mountain barefoot, and tackling a pouncing mountain lion for her first bloodlust meal.

Stephenie Meyer Open To 'Twilight' Reboot ... Someday -

Stephenie Meyer Open To 'Twilight' Reboot ... Someday 'Twilight' author tells MTV News it's something she'd consider in 'the right scenario.'

Considering that the last movie in the "Twilight Saga" has yet to be released, it seems a bit early to reboot the whole franchise just four years after the first movie hit theaters. That rumor began to spread earlier this summer, with the chatter including the caveat that it would all be tied to the film's fifth anniversary in 2013.

The studio released a statement to Deadline at the time that as far as they are concerned "Breaking Dawn -- Part 2" is the end of "Twilight" on the big screen, unless of course the franchise's author, Stephenie Meyer, has other plans in mind to re-imagine Edward, Bella and all their pals for a brand-new "Twilight" look.

So, when MTV News spoke to Meyer at Comic-Con in San Diego on Thursday (July 12), she explained that she's not against a reboot, but just not yet. "I think that obviously that could happen, and in the right scenario, it might be something that I'd be excited about," she said.

She added that if, and it's a major if, it did happen it would be closer to 15 years down the road. "I don't see them doing that without [me]. [The studio and I] have a pretty good relationship," she said. "It's a nice friendship at this point."

"Twilight" will bid a final farewell on November 16 with the release of "Breaking Dawn - Part 2," but with all parties not counting out anything in the Twi-verse, fans shouldn't rule out a somewhere-down-the-line something just yet.

"We are not remaking 'Twilight,' " the studio previously said. "We will happily support Stephanie Meyer if she decides to proceed in any way. But this will be the last one unless that should change."

MTV News has San Diego Comic-Con 2012 covered! We'll be live-streaming from San Diego daily at 1 p.m. ET. Don't miss a geeky minute!

‘Breaking Dawn Pt. 2′ Comic-Con Panel Previews A Second Scene

In an additional preview scene, the ‘Twilight’ saga team show vampire Bella practicing acting like a human before seeing her dad. Read on for the details! As if bringing Twilight fans at Comic-Con the entire first seven minutes of the final installment of the saga, Breaking Dawn Pt. 2, wasn’t enough, the Twilight gang previewed a second scene!

According to Celebuzz, Kristen Stewart announced the scene, “This is when Charlie [Bella's dad] is going to come over and see me for the first time.”

In the scene, the Cullens are all on screen, helping Bella to “figure out” her strength and how to act human. says that vamp Bella “has special contacts for her eyes, but can’t stop moving with super-speed or super strength.”

They try to get her to sit in a chair, telling her that she’s sitting too straight. “Don’t sit so straight, humans don’t do that,” Rosalie, Nikki Reed‘s character, says to Bella.

After being reminded to blink three times a minute, Bella tries and looks incredibly forced. Taylor Lautner‘s Jacob tells her, “That’s great. For a cartoon character!”

According to the official Twilight Twitter account, the humorous scene played to big laughs in Hall H at the San Diego Convention Center.

What do you think, HollywoodLifers? Does hearing about these scene previews make you even MORE excited for Breaking Dawn Pt. 2?

First Seven Minutes Of ‘Breaking Dawn Part 2′ Shown At Comic Con

Wow! The Twilight cast showed fans a LONG preview of what’s to come in Breaking Dawn Part 2. We see Edward’s first words to vampire Bella and her hunt scene! As if we needed something else to get us excited for Breaking Dawn Part 2! Today Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner joined the rest of the Cullens and Stephenie Meyer for a Comic-Con fan panel and they presented the first seven minutes of the last Twilight film.

“You’re so beautiful,” Edward says to Bella as he speaks his first words to her new vampire self. “It’s your turn now to break me.” He even leads her to a mirror to see her new eyes! Bella wants to see Renesmee but Edward insists they hunt first.

Our favorite sparkly couple race through the forest for their hunt scene. Just like the last book, Bella smells a human who is hiking and has cut his hand and starts go go after him. It makes for a suspenseful moment before she has the strength to stop herself. “I’m amazed. You ran away from human blood mid hunt,” Edward tells her.

She returns to hunt deer but ends up attacking a mountain lion instead.

They go back to the Cullen house and Jacob comes out, admitting the duo they “look great together.” He mentions Renesmee and protectively Bella says “Since when do you care about Renesmee?” She doesn’t know he’s imprinted yet. She still has joking, friendly chemistry with her friend though. “Jake, you really do stink!” Bella proclaims in a very memorable moment taken exactly from the novel.

Are you guys itching to see this latest clip?? We can’t wait to get our hands on it so we can watch it on repeat!
