Different users have access to different functions of the site. While anyone can do most things on the site, including reading and editing, local staff can access a few additional functions.

Staff abilities

Administrators (or sysops) have additional functions are:

  • Deleting and undeleting pages, page histories, and uploaded files.
  • Locking (protecting) a page so it cannot be edited or renamed by users without admin rights.
  • Blocking IP addresses or user names from editing; and very quick "rollback" of undesirable edits.
  • Editing the interface by changing system messages and skins.

Bureaucrats can make other users into bureaucrats or administrators on their own wiki. However, he or she is not currently able to remove bureaucrat access from any user, except him/herself; please contact one of the community staff if you need that done.

Some Fandom staff members have full access to all Fandom. They will be shown in Special:Listusers/staff on any wiki. Spam Obliteration and Prevention (SOAP) also have limited access to all Fandom wikis for cleanup purposes. These users will be shown on Special:Listusers/janitor on any wiki. Discussion Moderators has similar tools to sysop, but restricted to discussion, and can't award or take away the tools from other users, except themselves. The following are the main tools of a Discussions Moderator:

  • Locking, editing, and deleting Discussions threads and replies
  • Editing and deleting blog comments
  • Editing and deleting article comments
  • Changing categories for Discussions threads

Content Moderators are community members who have tools to help with specific parts of the community, particularly in the wiki-editing field. These tools include the following:

  • Deleting, editing and moving protected pages and files
  • Rollback (see below)
  • Protecting and unprotecting pages

Rollbacks are users who have the tool of being able to revert edits with one click, instead of the normal method of undoing an edit, which takes several clicks in the page history. This enables rollbacks to combat spam and vandalism more conveniently.

Who are this wiki's staff?

The "founder" of a wiki, the person who first requested it, is given administrator access automatically. Founders are also given bureaucrat access so they can make any other user on their wiki an administrator or bureaucrat. Becoming staff

For you to become staff, someone with bureaucrat access must make you one. On larger Wikia, there will usually be a community page for requests, with a page name such as "Twilight Saga Wiki:Requests for adminship". On a smaller wiki, you may simply ask on the community portal or Forum, or ask a bureaucrat directly on his or her talk page.

If there are no active bureaucrats and you wish to become an administrator, please contact the community staff on the Central Wikia.

What can staff not do?

Staff should not use their tools to settle editing disputes; for example, to lock a page on a version he or she prefers in an editing dispute that isn't vandalism. Tools should be used to help keep the wiki clear of vandalism, spam, and users who make malicious edits, but not for simple disagreements between users acting in good faith. Ideally staff shouldn't be considered "in charge". The ideal staff is just someone who is trusted to have a few extra buttons and to use them for the benefit of the Wikia community.
