The Great Wolf is a part of Quileute legends regarding why some boys of their tribe turn into Werewolves. It was discovered that an ancient leader Taha Aki, trying to protect his people shared the body of a wolf. This made him strong enough to fight the usurping Utlapa and later the wolf trait was passed down to his descendants.
