Template:Infobox character A member of the wolf pack, Quil is mentioned in passing in the first of the series, but becomes somewhat of a regular character starting in the second book. Unlike the other members of the pack, he was happy about becoming a wolf, due to finally having his friends back and understanding what was going on.

History

During the start of New Moon, Quil is worried about Jacob because of the effect of being a wolf had on him. It is reveled during Breaking Dawn that he enjoyed being part of the pack the most. Quil is one of the three wolves of the pack who have imprinted; he imprinted on Emily's two-year-old niece, Claire. Although this seems to cause something of a scandal, Jacob Black explains that there is currently nothing sexual or romantic about it, and that Quil will be whatever Claire needs him to be for the rest of her life, whether a brother, a protector or a lover. He ends up joining Jacob Black's pack at the end of Breaking Dawn

Controversy

Many antis argue that the relationship between Quil and Claire promotes pedophilia. Despite Jacob's excuses, it is obvious that Claire is intended to be Quil's mate. As she has been raised this way from a young age, she will not realize that she has the choice of actually choosing a boyfriend. Quil has an unhealthy position of authority, and many argue that the relationship is similar to child grooming. Despite this, it is obvious that although Quil loves her, he only loves her as an older brother, and it will stay this way until she is of age.
