Phoenix, Arizona is the town that Stephenie Meyer grew up in, as did Bella Swan. It is where Bella took ballet classes and lived for almost 17 years of her life. Her old ballet studio in Phoenix is where James almost killed Bella, but was destroyed by the Cullens.

Alice and Jasper took bella there to protect her from James but it failed as he almost killed her and nearly changed her into a vampire which caused pain and she had to go to hospital

Bella's mother, Renée, moved there after she left Charlie. Her last words were, "Let me go, Charlie," and Bella had to repeat these words to Charlie so that she could escape to Phoenix to get away from James.

According to Bella, in Phoenix it is sunny all day and there is a blistering heat.
