Jacksonville is the Florida city where Bella's mother and stepfather live. Renee and Phil decide to rent a house in Jacksonville as Bella likes to live where the weather is hot. But later Bella says that she wants to live in Forks. Bella and Edward visit them in Eclipse and Renee tries to convince Bella to go to school there, but Bella says she would rather drink water than breathe it, referring to Jacksonville's hot and muggy weather. Jacksonville is the largest American city in land area in the lower 48 states. Jacksonville is located near the oldest continuously occupied American settlement, St. Augustine.
