Anglicanism was the Christian denomination to which Carlisle Cullen and his father belonged. Carlisle's father was an Anglican pastor. A cross is seen hanging in the hallway of the Cullen's house, and Edward Cullen, while showing the Cullen's house to Bella Swan, refers to it as ironic, because it was believed that vampires stayed away from crosses and holy water.
In the period between 1649 and 1660, which coincides with Carlisle's teenaged years, Anglicanism was disestablished and outlawed in favour of Puritanism. It is unknown what profession Carlisle's father followed during this period.
